  • The Cologne Sequence of professional frameless shower door hinges is designed to accommodate 3/8 to 1/2 inch (10 to 12 millimeter) glass. The heavy duty Cologne hinge is comparable in styling to the standard duty Pinnacle hinge, and the BGCU1 clamps. Available in both Wall Mount and Glass-to-Glass styles, it provides design flexibility. Cologne Series Hinges are constructed of solid brass with all moving elements (pins and springs) in stainless steel. This hinge requires a glass cutout for the hinge body. Two strategically placed pins inside the hinge produce cutout options, and fulfill two schools of thought for mounting shower door hinges. It lets the Cologne Hinge to be used with it's own in.mouse-ears in. cut-out, or in most cases fit competitive in.mouse-ear in. cut-outs. On the other hand, to allow increased adjust-ability, the two pins can be taken off that will allow the Cologne Hinge to fit it's own rectangular shape, square cornered cut-out, or in some cases, fit competitive rectangular shaped, sq. cornered cut-outs.

Glass Cutout:

The cutout for the hinge allows some adjustment in door position after installation. The positioning of the cutout is subjective, but tempering facilities have minimum distances from the end of the glass to the notch. It is important that the hinge is centered in the cutout for the initial installation to have maxium adjustiability.

Maintenance Guidelines:

• Our hinges are greased at the factory for quiet and trouble-free operation. If there is any squeaking that occurs after installation, put a drop of "3 in 1 Oil" (also known as "household oil") on the white nylon washer that the hinge body pivots on. This washer is the component that acts as a buffer, so the body of the hinge doesn't pivot directly on the brass center block. This solution doesn't require the disassembly of the hinge.
Note: Do not use spray lubricant on these hinges. If the hinge has been disassembled, upon re-assembly, use white lithium grease to lubricate the interior mechanism.

Never use an abrasive cleaner on the hardware. Many of the components are coated with a clear lacquer that will be irreparably damaged if subjected to harsh, abrasive chemicals. Advise your customer that drying the hardware with a clean, soft towel on a daily basis is the best way to maintain the hardware. If mineral deposits build-up, mix a couple of drops of a mild liquid soap (such as Ivory or a similar product) into a cup of warm water. Using a soft, non-abrasive cloth, clean the hardware. Rinse thoroughly with clean, warm water and dry.
